Air conditioners

From 1 January 2013 onwards, electric air conditioners* should come with an energy label indicating their energy efficiency.

The energy label for single and double duct air conditioners shall indicate an energy efficiency scale from A+++ (most efficient) to D (least efficient).

The energy label for the other types of air conditioners, stipulates the following rules:
- from 1 January 2013, an energy efficiency scale from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient);
- from 1 January 2015, a scale from A+ to F;
- from 1 January 2017, a scale from A++ to E;
- from 1 January 2019, a scale from A+++ to D;

There are nine different labels, each providing information on the company that placed the product on the market, the product model, how energy efficient the product is, the average annual energy consumption, the S/COP and/or S/EER value(s), the noise level, etc.

To affix the energy label on a product, please print the applicable label:
- for reversible but not single or double duct air conditioners, with a minimum dimension of 120 mm x 210 mm;
- for other air conditioners, with a minimum dimension of 100 mm x 200 mm.

(*) Electric mains-operated air conditioners with a rated capacity of ≤ 12 kW for cooling, or heating, if the product has no cooling function. Energy labels do not apply to a) appliances that use non-electric energy sources;
b) air conditioners of which the condensor- or evaporator-side, or both, do not use air for heat transfer medium.
